Detailed Puppy Placement Policy

Our puppies are only placed in carefully screened homes. We ask that you fully consider the commitment of owning a German Pinscher. In our opinion, this is not the ideal dog for the average overscheduled, busy family. We expect that you have detemined you have the time and energy to add a puppy to your family. German Pinschers need regular exercise and training. We ask that all of our puppy buyers complete a basic obedience class with their new dog and put the effort into socializing their puppy in a positive way. We expect our potential buyers to be committed to love and care for their puppy for the entirety of its life.

We ask all of our puppy buyers to have hips and eyes tested at two years of age. In the future, we would like to implement the use of the C-BARQ, developed by the University of Pennsylvania, to assess and follow over time the temperaments of the dogs we are producing. This means when your dog is an adult we will ask you to complete a questionnaire about your dog's personality that takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete.

All of our puppies will be temperament tested and graded for conformation around 7 and 8 weeks. Prospective buyers must complete our puppy form. This will help us determine the best dog for you as well as the best home for each puppy. We are currently using the APET system to evaluate up to 33 temperament traits for each puppy and to create individualized training plans.

ALL pet puppies will be sold on spay/neuter contracts and with limited registration. We firmly believe that pediatric spay and neuter causes later health and behavioural issues, so we ask that you wait until after your puppy is at least a year old to spay or neuter. Pet puppies can still participate in all AKC companion events except conformation. This means you can still compete in Obedience, Agility, Rally, Scentwork, Trick Dog, etc. We guarantee our pet puppies against hereditary eye disease and hip dysplasia.

Show potential puppies will be available in limited quantities. We will not sell a show prospect unless we feel it has sufficient potential in both conformation AND temperament to be an excellent ambassador of the breed in the show ring. Our breedings are done with the goal of producing a puppy for ourselves to keep and compete with, so breeding quality dogs are available only in very limited quantities. All show puppies will be placed in approved homes on co-ownership and/or with detailed contracts with established, reputable homes. Show potential puppies are also sold with a health guarantee.

Special consideration will be given to working and performance homes. We prefer to place pups in homes that will be working or competing with their dogs regularly, as our breeding program focuses on producing dogs with good working temperament. Service dog prospects should be reserved in advance as we are very careful about screening and placing only the most suitable puppies for this demanding work. Please consider that German Pinschers are not a traditional service dog breed and you will have a much higher chance of success with breeds traditionally used for service work.

We reserve the right to refuse sale of any dog to anyone we do not feel will provide a suitable home for that dog.

All of our puppies will be raised in an enriching environment with neurological stimulation and appropriate stimulus during each key developmental period. They will be AKC registered, up-to-date on appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped. While they are here they will begin the foundations for clicker, house, and crate training and will have already been introduced to a collar and leash. We want our puppies to be raised with the most skills and with a solid foundation. We are now offering reimbursement of the cost of a basic obedience training class or puppy kindgergarten class completed by our buyers during their puppy's first year. As breeders we will go above and beyond for our puppy buyers.
